History and Philosophy
Expert Test Prep was started in 2016 and continues to be the premiere tutoring solution for Denver area students. We only hire perfect-scoring tutors with top-level educations, and we place a premium on our tutors having a passion for connecting with and helping our students.
Founder Bobby Kenney has been working with students and perfecting his approach to conquering tests for over 10 years. A Harvard graduate (Class of ’10), Bobby firmly believes in the value of deliberate practice with the highest-quality materials and instruction from the best teachers available. It is his mission to help students reach their potential—and discover more of what they are capable of than they ever thought possible.
Going It Alone
For many students he has worked with, the biggest setback Bobby has noticed is when they try to prepare for these standardized tests on their own, starting out with high hopes and a truly overwhelming amount of resources. However, these students often have no guidance, no expectations, no goals, and no plan. Unfortunately, this approach ends up costing them dearly, as they begin to hate standardized tests and are paralyzed by the inundation of possibilities.
Of course, this self-directed approach works for many students, but even for the brightest among them, the time investment is enormous. Bobby has met students who have spent hours researching basic grammar concepts that he can present to them in minutes, along with a handful of relevant ACT or SAT questions. He has encountered students spending hours taking practice tests developed by test-prep companies, which are always inferior to the official materials released by the ACT and College Board. How would they have known the most effective way to study without devoting hours to researching blogs, message boards, and articles?
In addition, what if these self-directed students run into a question they don’t know how to solve? What if they are consistently running out of time on each section? And what if schoolwork piles up and ACT/SAT preparation is forced to take a back seat?
Our Process
At Expert Test Prep, we strive to make the test-prep process straightforward, engaging, and efficient. We share our best strategies for approaching each section, which we have researched and put in place ourselves, following years of careful study and sitting for official exams. We keep parents informed every step of the way and value the investment they put into their students. We recognize the power of positive psychology and strive to prove to students what their true potential is. In short, we put our students first and do everything in our power to help them achieve their goals.
At Expert Test Prep, we have put in thousands of hours to perfect our test-taking approach; sharing this knowledge with out students is our passion, and nothing makes us more satisfied than to share in the joy of our students as they surpass their goals—and their own expectations of what they are capable of.
